A Prose Poem

By Louis Del Grosso

I know what I think about what people say about others
Because I am no stranger to saying these same things
I know are wrong when they target me specifically
But I think these things aggravated and merciless
In my head
Not out loud
In my deep dark head
Hating behavior of a person I do not know
Nor understand the why of such behavior
I cannot stand to look feeling frigging
Anger under stone cold rejection
At the pathetic in Darwin’s nature
I would put the sickening in a folder
Staple it shut
I know this is wrong
When I become my own target
One day I plain know
The extent of my defect
As it comes back to me slick and wet
With saliva
With local damage
With the viciousness an open road
As I would get driven over
As I do
I know what I think about what people say about others
